Think of the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel , and a little Sixpence None the Richer. You’ll get Bread:
Yes, a bit like country folk songs or something of the 80s, but hey, why not hold on the nosier stuff you’re probably listening to now?
I just happened to chance on this album the other day. Skeptical as I was over it being the “essentials”, I still sat on and listened. I certainly don’t regret it. The gentle rhythm, rocked by a little guitar strings and the soothing lyrics can easily make one a little addicted to their songs. Of course, unless you’re already a hardcore mainstream music geek, then well, in that case…
Songs are compilations of this band over throughout its lifetime. Personal favourites are If and Diary, admittedly, love songs where the lyrics caught my attention before the music.
IF
If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can’t I paint you?
The words will never show the you I’ve come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There’s no one home but you,
You’re all that’s left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.
If a man could be two places at one time,
I’d be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I’d spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away
I doubt you could find this album in the music store. It’s a little old already. Still if you find it, I hope you enjoy it too.
